Welcome to Tymberhavene

Summits Arts and Sciences Competitions

Greetings Unto the Populace of the Principality of the Summits

Adhering to the traditions set forth for the Principality of the Summits, the
time draws nigh to choose a new Alpine Scholar during the celebration of  11th
Night Investiture.

In addition, the Principality MoAS and current Alpine Scholar wish to invite
people to participate in the A & S Showcase and First Time Entrant
Acknowledgment.

It is also the desire of the Tanist and ban Tanist (who will be the newly
crowned Prince and Princess of the Summits) to select an individual for their
Personal Choice Award.

*Please note that there will be three activities as described below:

 I.  Alpine Scholar Competition Description and Responsibilities:

This competition is designed to select the new Alpine Scholar that will serve                                                                                                                    the Principality of the Summits for a period of one year.  It is the
responsibility of the Alpine Scholar to promote the Arts and Sciences of the
Summits by working closely with the Principality MoAS to advance activities that
showcase all levels of artisans, craft persons and those pursuing the
sciences.  This may include assistance with planning and implementing special
events and classes throughout the year while serving as Alpine Scholar.
The Alpine Scholar is obligated to attend March and September Coronet
Tournaments, June Investiture and 11th Night Investiture.  The Alpine Scholar
is also obligated to swear an oath of service to the Prince and Princess of the
Summits.

Requirements:
1.  Minimum of three items submitted in two different categories *see list
    below*
2.  Each item marked with:
       SCA Name
        Branch
          Beginner (1 year or less)
           Intermediate (1 - 4 years)
             Advanced (5 + years)
 3.  Documentation - Written
 4.  Letter of Intent to enter Alpine Scholar Competition submitted to:
current Alpine Scholar (Brizio) *and* Principality MoAS (VASA)
by DECEMBER 1, including entry categories and brief description of items
      being submitted.

Selection Process:
The average of the total of the three individual scores will be used to
determine the winner of the Alpine Scholar Competition.  Please feel free to
submit as many entries as you desire; however, you will be asked to choose the
three entries that you wish to be considered by the judge(s) for the Alpine
Scholar Competition.

II.  *NEW*  A & S Showcase, First Time Entrant Acknowledgment:

The ARTists’ Reception and Showcase is a new tradition that was
started in the principality at Crown-in-the-South, which provides an environment
for our populace to display their Arts and Sciences, without feeling the
pressure of being involved in a “formal” competition process.  The launch
of the ARTists’ Reception and Showcase was a huge success and we wish to add
another incentive to encourage even more folks to participate.

The First Time Entrant Acknowledgment is designed for individuals who
have never displayed their item(s) in an A & S Competition.  This is meant
to be a fun, encouraging experience which will provide folks with the
opportunity to “get their toes wet”, without having to completely jump in
the water!  Be prepared to chat with the judge(s) about your entry.  Written
documentation is encouraged, but not required.

Requirements:
1.  Entrant has never entered a Principality Alpine Scholar Competition before
2.  Each item marked with:
      SCA Name
      Branch
3.  Documentation - Verbal, (although we encourage folks to provide written
    documentation)
4.  Folks interested in participating are encouraged to send an E-Mail  to
the Alpine Scholar (Brizio) *and* Principality MoAS (VASA) with a brief
description of the item(s) you wish to enter, to assist us in planning adequate
     showcase space.

***Please note that #4 is not mandatory for participation, last-minute entrants
will certainly be more than welcome!

III.  *NEW*  Alpine Highness' Personal Choice Award:
